@corgilesbian In any case, we believe that first host fading was necessary for our stability. Only after that were we able to get a lot of harmful BPD symptoms and shitty coping more under control for a while (before getting slammed with triggering emotional duress over the years as a collective. But we are better since then too, now.)
The various host changes we’ve had over the years have saved us from complete surrender to everything that’s gone wrong with our brain and life. So, it doesn’t matter where our predisposition to plurality came from, we had it and are damn lucky it’s allowed us to keep functioning.
We feel way less connected to first host’s trauma now, but some of what we’ve experienced together can affect headmates who weren’t around for it.
