alt+h forum plug

the alt+h forum is open for public registration as of today. if you're nonhuman, plural, fictionfolk or otherwise not-normatively / alternatively human, and you're interested in a discussion space that focuses on common experience and advocacy for real-world acceptance, maybe check it out? we'd love some help trying to avoid the dreaded forum entropy: forum.alt-h.net/

public links for rules? re: alt+h forum plug

@vagabondsun I just clicked through to the page, and it looks like the rules and forum etiquette links just redirect back to the login page - are they posted anywhere we can look at them before we register?

@vagabondsun is staff.alt-h.net/apps/onlyoffic the rules we should be reading? we ended up clicking over to the main alt-h.net page and saw a link...

@packbat yup, that's the one! that document should only be a temp measure, for now i'm still working on getting the forum software to do something more nuanced than 'literally every page is public' or 'literally every page is private'

re: rules preview link re: alt+h forum plug

@vagabondsun Gotcha - thank you!

On the subject of forum software: the document said the alt+h forum is going to be using Discourse? That forum software is pretty inaccessible to us for a number of reasons, so we're probably going to sit this one out. I'm sorry and I hope it works well for y'all.

re: rules preview link re: alt+h forum plug

@packbat yeah, i've become increasingly less thrilled with my choice of software for a number of reasons, accessibility being one of them, but it's a bit late to pivot now :| i intend on forking it and seeing what i can fix but i can't say how successful i'll be at that. thank you for the well wishes, i'm sorry that the platform isn't suitable for your needs!

@vagabondsun good luck, the creator is actively hostile when it comes to implementing/assisting with any of the changes that would solve the most common accessibility issues (despite this having been done already for at least one very large corporate customer without adding it to the codebase)
